I was privileged to stay home with our children, working only part-time or on a volunteer basis. But I love teaching and learning. So I read all kinds of books about parenting. I also had a Montessori course and went to Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC) seminars in St. Louis. I began a parenting column in our local newspaper as an adjunct to pre-school parent conferences, to give me an opportunity to share what I learned.
